Happy Birthday Lucca!!

Lucca is 2 weeks today!! I can't believe it's been that long already. I get so sad because I know he's not going to be a newborn for much longer. Although I won't be sad to say farewell to the sleepless nights, breastfeeding problems and random bouts of screaming.

Shan and I would never have made it through these weeks without Grandma. She had been with us since Lucca's birth and it was such a huge help and support. My dad came in town this last weekend as well. I think he gained an all new respect for my mom because after being at our house for two hours he was already getting cabin fever. We had such a good weekend together it was so sad to see them leave. It's been a long time since I've sobbed saying "I just want my parents back". Here are some pics from their visit. I'm so sad though -- I realized when looking at these that we didn't get any pics of Grandpa and Lucca :( That will have to wait for Thanksgiving.

Given our extreme lack of time, it's taken me days to even get to looking at these pics so I'll make it short and sweet. Let's be honest, you only want to see more pics of Lucca anyhow.

Long story short, I'm doing better. Recovery has gone great, there have been other hurtles, but Shan has been amazing support. He's so insanely in love with Lucca it's magical to watch.

My mom has also been here which has been a huge help. Although we've truly enjoyed her being here and I know she loves snuggling with Lucca I know she's looking forward to having conversations not revolved around breastfeeding. Chelsea also surprised me and came in town which was awesome. It was so nice to have her around to tell me I was doing a good job - I needed to hear it more than she knew.

Thanks again to everyone for all your support. Shan, Lucca and I have definitely felt so loved!

Baby Lucca Ryder Perera

We did it!! At 8:56 am on Sept. 15th, Lucca Ryder Perera came out butt first and with lots of hair! He weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz. and is SO beautiful. We are enjoying every minute and are both so insanely in love with him. Here are a few pics and I'm sure there will be lots to follow.

Thanks so everyone for all your messages, thoughts, wishes, blessing and visits. We have been overwhelmed with all of the love and support we've received! Lucca is one lucky little boy to have such amazing family and friends already. Please be patient as we make our way through returning phone calls -- it's not because we don't appreciate them!

Lucca's Nursery

Well, unfortunately the contractions didn't turn into labor last night....just enough to keep me anxiously awake.
